The Great Mornington Peninsula Sub-Region Dinner Debate

When: 28 Apr 2012

"Simply obvious sub regions or too complex to call?"

An inspirational evening of our delicious wines, local cuisine and spirited debate on the controversial notion of wines expressing sub regionality. The tasting and discussion of a wide selection of Mornington Peninsula Pinots will fuel the debate.

This will be debated by four key Mornington Peninsula producers - Lindsay McCall (Paringa Estate) & David Lloyd (Eldridge Estate of Red Hill) versus Martin Spedding (Ten Minutes by Tractor) & Kate McIntyre MW (Moorooduc Estate). With Jane Faulkner facilitating the debate, we are ensured of a fair fight and much entertainment along the way.

The Dinner Debate will be held at Paringa Estate, Saturday 28th April 2012 from 7pm.

Cost $120 per person. For bookings please call (03) 5989 2669.

Harvest 2012

Lloyd's Vegie soup 2012

We have finished harvesting our grapes for 2012. Big thanks to the friends who have helped harvest the fruit. We know that our hills can be challenging but hope that the fine food and wine served for lunch helps compensate for the aching muscles.

The final chardonnay juice will be transferred to barrel to ferment today, Easter Sunday.

The pinot noir crop was smaller than usual. This was due to very small bunches and berries - should result in a very intense wine.

The earlier picked pinots are fermenting in tanks and being plunged on a regular basis - some may be pressed this week.

Thanks to the small crew who harvested the Sauvignon Blanc on March 17 - it has been settled and has now been transferred to the casks to ferment.

For those of you are considering picking for the first time this is a timetable of the picking day -

8.30am          arrive Eldridge - we provide grape snippers/plastic gloves/sunscreen. Check the weather forecast for the day and dress                                          accordingly. If rain is forecast, we will probably still pick so, bring a change of clothes.

11.00am        morning tea - home made scones and sticky bun

2.00pm          lunch - spit roast and Eldridge Estate wines

If you would like to join us on one of these days please email us to indicate your interest.

Harvest 2011

We would like to thank all the people who volunteered their time to help us with harvest this year. Despite the weather leading into harvest, the 3 days that our friends and customers helped us pick our fruit were beautiful days in the vineyard.

It was an extremely difficult season.  The high rainfall and humidity lead to extreme disease pressure. We sprayed more than normal and our pickers had to be selective in the vineyard.

The Fume Blanc has been bottled and is on sale at cellar door.

The Chardonnays were bottled on February 12th. The North Patch Chardonnay will be released later this year and the Estate Chardonnay will be released in 2013.

The Pinots is still resting in barrels.
