2009 Eldridge Estate Pinot Noir

A dark shade of garnet that is very enticing. The nose oozes dark cherry with a hint of maraschino cherry. The palate is rich, powerful and very long. The flavours begin with dark cherry and and a tannic grip that suggest improvement with some time in the cellar.

This wine is made to last!

James Halliday's wine tasting note

Fractionally lighter colour than the Clonal Blend, but no less vivid; an attractive wine, also made from six clones, but introducing cherry notes on the bouquet, and a firmer palate, with touches of briar.

This wine is a blend of six different clones of Pinot Noir planted across our vineyard and harvested over the last ten days of March 2009. All the clones were fermented separately using wild yeast. The wines were pressed in our gentle air bag press (see winemakers diary under the Cellar Door web page) and then aged in French oak barrels from a range of tonnelleries.
