2009 Pinot Noir Clone MV6
The light garnet colour gives no indication of the power and structure behind this wine. The aromas are of morello cherry with a hint of marzipan. The palate is BIG, starting with bright RED cherry and moving on to morello cherry with tight acid. The great tannic grip at the end suggests that this is a wine to age in the cellar for 5 to 10 years
Food match : Rack of lamb or Moussaka.
This wine is made from a single patch of MV6 - rows 33 - 35. The bunches are destemmed but the resulting skin and juice mix contains 95% whole berries. A 3 day pre-fermentation cold soak preceded a natural ferment with no yeast being added. The wines were pressed in our gentle air bag press (see winemakers diary under the Cellar Door web page) and then aged in French oak barrels from a range of tonnelleries.
Vintage: 2009
