2009 Eldridge Estate Chardonnay
Aromas of citrus with a little stone fruit entice you to start tasting. The palate is tight, starting with a little peach and moving on to a little mushroom and a bit of almond.
James Halliday's wine tasting note
Glowing green-quartz; white flesh stone fruit and cashew on the bouquet flow into the elegant and well-balanced palate; developing slowly but surely.
Food match : Freshly shucked oysters or seafood risotto.
The grapes were whole bunch pressed using a gentle air bag press with carbon dioxide cover to retain the varietal fruit character. The juice was fermented in 60% new French Oak with some solids before being moved to 30% new oak for a further 9 months.
